October and her mom walked up the hill and stood at the top. Her mother looked around as she looked down at the camp. On her shoulder was a black backpack filled with things she thought she would need on her trip, "So... this is Camp Half-Blood."
Her mother nodded, "Yep," She turned to look at her daughter, "I can't go in there with you."
"What? Why?" She looked at her mother frantically.
"I'm a mortal. Only demi-gods, satyrs, and gods can enter," October looked at the ground, "But you'll be able to visit me during the winter (summer to me, probably) and go to school."
October looked back at her mother, "Really?"
"Yes," her mother nodded then looked down the hill where the camp would be if she could see it, "You better get going." A tear ran down her face.
October nodded and hugged her mother as she began to cry, "I love you, mom."
Her mother hugged back and whispered, as if she was trying to calm a crying infant, "Shh, don't cry, sweetheart. You'll see me again." She held October out at arms-length and kissed her cheek," I love you," She turned her toward the camp, "Now get going."
October nodded and started walking down the hill, slowly, frequently looking back at her mother. She got to the bottom of the hill when a girl on skates came up to her.
"Oh! A new girl," She stopped right in front of her and shook her hand, "Hello, I'm Fleta. You are?"
October shook her hand, "October, daughter of Morpheus."
"YOU ALREADY KNOW WHO YOUR PARENT IS! THAT'S GREAT!" Fleta laughed, "I'm a daughter of Hermes. It's very nice to meet you. Please, follow me." She turned and started skating toward the Big House.
October followed her as she started explaining things about the camp, looking around.
