October held the door shut as her mother tried to push the couch over, "MOM! WHAT IS GOING ON!?"
Her mother pushed the couch up to the door and October let go of it. The door moved for a few minutes then stopped.
October stood there and listened then whispered, "Is it gone? Did it give up?"
Her mother shook her head, catching her breath. She spoke between breaths,"Not... likely... They... normally... won't... give... up... until... they... have... what... they... want..."
October looked at her, already knowing the answer.
She looked at October and stood up straight, "You."
October looked at the door, a tear rolling down her cheek, then at her mom, "Why? Why me? What are they?"
Her mom looked at her then a chair and sat down, "I suppose I have to tell you now," she sighed, "Take a seat." She took a seat next to her and looked at her eagerly. "You remember your dreams?"
October nodded, "Of course. I have the same ones every night."
Her mom nodded, "Well, that camp you see? With the pegasi and kids with weapons and the centaur? It's real. It's located in New York."
October's mouth opened in awe, "America?"
Her mom nodded, "America. It's a camp for special teenagers. Teenagers like you. These teenagers... aren't the average human."
"You mean-"
Her mom nodded, "Yes, they are demigods. They are children of gods and humans. They stay at that camp to learn how to protect themselves from... well... monsters like that," she tilted her head toward the door."
October looked at the door in disbelief, "Hippalectryon."
She nodded, "Yes, that's why I've been teaching you Greek Myths. Not just because you like them, but because they are important to you."
"That's why we came to India."
Her mother nodded again, "That's why we came to India. I didn't think they would be able to smell you here, but I guess they did."
"And I need to get to the camp."
"Yes, you need to get to the camp."
There was another bang on the door and October jumped then looked at her mom, "So... who's my dad?"
"Morpheus, the god of dreams. We met at a convention for sleeping disorders," she laughed a little," I can't believe I actually thought he was a doctor."
October smirked, "Well, that explains my dreams." The door banged again a few times. Everything was quiet for a while, then a monster that looked like a mix between a horse and a rooster, busted in.
