Purple runes shimmer as a similarly colored fog appears on half blood hill. An obsidian statue of the Titan of time himself emerges from the ground, it's hands clenched in tight fists, it's arms crossed over protecting a blackened form within. Sharp fingers unravel themselves and the statue's arms unlock. Jay stumbles out, doubled over and shrugs off the shadows that once engulfed him. The cold skeletal smile from under the hood of the statue will be a sight he never forgets. The shadows leave a new appearance for Jay. He has returned to his true age of 16, instead of the slightly older appearance he was once cursed with. His hair remains the same, but his face appears to look more tired with the dark rings forming under his eyes. A streak of blood red warpaint crosses his left eyelid to the top of his cheek. He wears the same old red longsleeve shirt, with the sleeves rolled to the elbow. He now also has a dark hooded, split-tail jacket, which sleeves are cut just on the upper-arm's midline. He wears dark maroon pants, and black boots. He is strapped with two dark brown belts which hold an assortment of small weapons and demigod combat tools. His hands bear bandages which are wrapped all the way up to just above his forearm midline. He has a brown sheath over his right sholder and across his chest, which is home to two new twin stygian blades. He also bears stygian armor on his left shoulder and both knees. The metallic Kronos returns into the bowels of the earth and leaves Jay kneeling on the ground in a small pool of blood, which stains the dirt like red wine. He clutches a slightly curved shard of metal which has pierced his chest. The shiny gold and silver shiv glimmers in the full moon's light. Blood drips off its sharp edge as Jay grits his teeth. "Welcome home..." he groans.

Anabelle tossed and turned in bed, unable to slip off. She was tired, but sleep remained stubbornly out of her grasp and she finally gave up. She sat up, tossed the covers to the side, and slipped on her shoes. Grabbing her jacket and sword, she slipped out of the cabin to get some fresh air, careful not to wake her siblings. As she walked through the grass, she looked up towards Half-Blood Hill. A figure was kneeling in the grass.
Her eyes sharpened. Who would be there at this hour? It didn't look like anyone she had knew around camp. She silently drew her sword, just in case, and proceeded to walk up the hill. But as she got closer, she was shocked to see the figure was no other than Jay. Her eyes widened in surprise and she dropped the sword as she ran to him. She was rather alarmed by the pool of blood, and even more so from the shard of metal protruding from his chest.
"Jay! My god..." She dropped to his side, worry radiating from her gray eyes. She looked down the hill and yelled, "Nicki!" She was going to wake the whole camp, but she didn't really care. Nicki was one of the best healers they had. A million questions were running through her head, but they all would have to wait. A few moments later, she spotted Nicki running up the hill towards them.

Jay's eyes widened at the sight of both of them. "Who's there?! Please there's no time to lose, you must get me to the Apollo cabin! Do not alarm Chiron and whatever you do do not pull the shard from my heart!" He shuddered, turned to check his surroundings and continued "It's the only thing keeping me alive...I can explain the rest later. I need to get to the small shrine of Apollo that his children keep in their cabin." He winced, "Hurry...please..."

She listened carefully to him. "It's Anabelle. Nicki's coming." Nicki darted up to them. "I'm here." She gasped, trying to catch her breath. "We need to get him to the infirmary." Anabelle stopped her. "No. Apollo Cabin. He needs that small shrine of Apollo you guys keep in there." Nicki looked at her, and must have realized they had to hurry, because she nodded and went to slip an arm under Jay. Anabelle got him from the other side, and carefully, but quickly down the hill.
Nicki spotted one of her siblings in the doorway of the cabin. "Adrian! (random name) Get over here!" The 14-year-old boy hurried up, and took Nicki's place in helping Jay. Nicki ran ahead of them, and by the time the trio had reached Apollo Cabin, had a spot for him on the floor and was grabbing the shrine. "Shut up, and stay back!" She snapped at her siblings who were starting to get out of bed. They did as she said. Anabelle set Jay gently on the floor, still half-supporting him. Nicki handed him the shrine. "Everyone, out." She said. "Go the Big House." She started to hear protests, but a sharp look got them scurrying out the door. "Anything we can do?" Anabelle asked.

Jay winced again, just as Nicki told everyone to get out, he snapped back "NO! Chiron can NOT know I'm here like this...Go to your friends' cabins, stay safe and warm for the night, but please, go nowhere near the Big House!" He then proceeded to put his hand on the shrine which was similar to a small box, which was very well decorated. It was golden, and the most specific aspect of it was a golden Phoenix sculpted into the front. "I know of how I can stay alive...other than having this piece of Kronos's scythe stuck in me...but I have to pull it out to pick the lock of this shrine...the contents...as long as it lives and has an empathy link with me....I too will live..." He paused and gritted his teeth, "but I need your help...as soon as I pull the shard from my heart...I will only have one minute to live..."

Nicki quickly nodded and darted outside to direct her half-siblings to other cabins. Anabelle could hear her quiet voice instructing them to act normal, and to not go near Chiron. "Of course." Anabelle replied. "Just tell me what to do." Nicki reentered, and knelt beside them.

Jason, son of Apollo, looked over their shoulders. He wasn't a really good healing child of Apollo, but the least he could do is help. "Hey, do you need me to do something Nicki?"

"Like I said, I have to pick the lock with this shard of Kronos's scythe...but as soon as I pull it from me, it's time slowing effects will be removed from around my heart and therefore my Death...which was supposed to happen a LONG time ago...will be a mere minute away." Jay looked at Jason, "Kid, as soon as I take this thing out, I need you to put pressure on the puncture." He the turned to Nicki and Anabelle..."Nicki you need to use as much power as you can muster and direct a healing spell at my wound..." He paused, his eyes darting between the two, "Anabelle you need to hold the shrine steady, because it will begin to squirm as I pick the lock...The Phoenix that is locked inside is merely an egg now, however when I use the shard, its time manipulation will actually speed its growth until it is fully grown and powerful. Also, if I take longer than a minute...don't panic, I can outrun Thanatos in the spirit world for at least 5 minutes...that's how long you have to pick the lock yourself...Then you have to grab my hand and get me to grasp the Phoenix, engulfing it in Shadows and turning it into a Bone-Hawk. Under normal circumstances, I could shoot the shadows from my hand...but I can't do that if I'm dead..." He smiled faintly..."I will emphasise the fact that it's VERY likely that I WILL die...but just a little bit. If everything goes according to plan after that, then I will live once more...if I don't...I won't...but no pressure." Jay turned pale and he coughed some blood..."We need to do this now."

Jason nodded, "That I can do." He wrapped some cloth around his hands, so blood could be absorbed and he waited quietly as Jay continued to give directions to the others. His eyes flickered as he heard that the phoenix in the box would no long be a phoenix once Jay touched it, but he kept quiet. He knew better then to mess with a child of the Underworld, let alone Nicki.

"Alright...here goes...absolutely everything..." Seconds passed, Jay gripped the shard in his bandaged hands "3". Hands that would never heal...the scars they bore could never be repaired, not with ambrosia, not with the healing magic of Apollo himself "2". His eyes darted round, everyone was ready...but was he? There was no time to question it..."1" he whispered as he yanked the shard from his body, his blood spilling on the floor, he gritted his teeth but his pain was an accumulation of all the injuries he'd received on his journey through time multiplied by the amount of years between the present and all the past timezones he had visited. It was cold calculation...one that made his spine ripple with cold waves...it was the calculation of Kronos himself...Jay's death was finally catching up to him. His eye's turned blurry, he fumbled with the shard and lock on the box, but he shook so violently he could achieve nothing...A minute passed and the shaking stopped, Jay went limp and lifeless, a corpse on the floor. His eyes were wide open, but the parts that were once white were now a deep and pure black and shadows crept across his face like vines. In the spirit world Jay caught a mere glimpse of Thanatos and began his flight...running across the obsidian landscape, vaulting lifelessly over walls and jumping onto rooftops...the residents of these dead cities did not mind...here they rested in peace...whether they liked it or not.

Nicki gave a quick nod to Jason. "Thanks Jason." Another pair of hands would certainly help. As soon as Jerez had yanked out the shard, Nicki directed a healing spell on it. Her hands hovered above it as Jason helped.
Anabelle was gripping the shrine, doing keeping it as still as she possibly could. It squirmed, just like Jay had said it would, but her grip kept it in one place.

(Can you please pick the lock now?) Jay continued to run from Thantos in the spirit world, but his time was running out fast. He started to feel woozy. "Oh god...please hurry"

(oh right, forgot about that part, lol. sorry)
Anabelle messed with the lock as she tried to get it to open. "Come on, come on, dammnit." (pardon my french) Finally, it clicked open. She quickly grabbed his hand and got him to grasp it before letting go as it was engulfed in shadows.

Jay gasped as the bird screeched...The darkness temporarily engulfed his mind just as it was engulfing the Phoenix. His eyes were still back and he grabbed it with both hands as if strangling it , it's bright flames struggled against the tentacles of darkness, but finally it gave in. The phoenix still burned with what looked like black fire. It's dark wings were tipped with red. It had a bone mask coving it's face with red markings that looked like something straight out of a day of the dead festival. It's feet were made of the same stuff... "Sorry little guy...I know that probably hurt...a lot." He saw everyone staring at him he looked back to his new bird..."This is what we call in the underworld, a Bone-Hawk...Think I'll name him Aegis." Aegis squawked in approval. Jay caught his breath. "Right well...I s'pose I should explain where I've been, what happened...and how we're all finding ourself here..." He looked longingly out of the window has he picked himself up... "Where's Nicole?" he said.

Nicole ran in slightly out of breath, hair sticking out in weird angles. "Wha...what's happened? Some of the Apollo kids came into my cabin...something about Jay, and blood, and a shard...I swear if this is a prank..." She looked away from Anabelle's face to realize there were three other people. "Jay? How'd you...why'd you...there's a bird?"
